The Faith Letter is a free email newsletter by Nathan Ellsworth, published by Cedarhall Media (“we”). It sends a short Bible verse every weekday morning (Monday to Friday) and a longer letter on Sunday. From November 29 to December 24 it also sends a short daily Advent reading, Saturdays included. You can choose to get the Sunday letter only.
What we collect
- Your email address. It's the only thing our sign-up forms ask for.
- Your “Sunday only” choice, if you make one in your preferences.
- Basic newsletter statistics, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. Our email platform, beehiiv, records these automatically, along with details such as the type of device used and an approximate location.
How you can sign up
- Through the sign-up form on thefaithletter.com.
- Through a sign-up form on Facebook or Instagram. When you use one, Meta passes us the email address you entered, and our small sign-up service adds it to our list.
We only add email addresses entered in our own sign-up forms. We don't buy lists or import contacts from anywhere else.
How we use it
- To send you The Faith Letter: a short verse every weekday morning and a longer letter on Sunday, or only the Sunday letter if you choose that. We also send the occasional email about it, such as the welcome email with your free reading plan. We sometimes run a short seasonal series, such as daily Advent readings (November 29 to December 24), which we announce in the letter first. If you'd rather not get them, choose “Sunday only” in your preferences or unsubscribe.
- To see which letters readers find helpful, so we can write better ones.
Who handles it for us
- beehiiv, our newsletter platform, stores our subscriber list and sends our emails.
- Meta, if you signed up through a Facebook or Instagram form.
- Our own sign-up service, on a server we rent, which passes email addresses from Facebook and Instagram forms to beehiiv. It keeps a record of which sign-ups it has passed on, not a copy of the list.
- Gmail (Google), where replies to our emails are forwarded and read.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent email addresses. We share them only with the services listed above, which handle them for us.
- We don't give email addresses to advertisers or sponsors.
- Replies are read by the writer. We don't publish replies or share them outside Cedarhall Media.
Your choices
- Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it any time and the emails stop.
- Want fewer emails? Each letter has a link to your preferences at the bottom, where you can choose “Sunday only”. We save that choice with your email address, and from then on we send you the Sunday letter only, plus the occasional email described above. That also skips the daily Advent readings.
